Ready. Set. Go!
2020
The Colorado River, as seen from the South Congress Bridge, in Austin, Texas.
To get this shot, I had to be on the bridge just as a scull (unusually, for that spot) launched right beneath, the scullers had to be pretty still as they strapped-in, I had to catch their first stroke, and —during all this— nobody else needed to be in that (usually busy) stretch of water. Which is to say this: I love this shot, but I hope it didn’t cost me too much luck.
Luck notwithstanding, there’s so much I regret about this shot: the aperture, the ISO, and the shutter speed are all “wrong” — because the opportunity so took me by surprise. If I manage to get back to Austin, I plan on spending at least a day trying to get a better version of this — though, given all the aforementioned prerequisites, I’m pretty sure I won’t succeed.
