My first-ever portrait: the wife of one of my best friends, on their wedding day.

I think there’s a significant chance that this’ll remain my best-ever portrait. Part of me hopes this’ll be so, and part of me fears it’ll be so.

As I write this now —3 years and quite a few portraits later, many of the same subject— this remains my best by far. There’s just something about this shot: it stopped me in my tracks when I first saw it, and it still stops me in my tracks whenever I see it.
